Prerequisites: Sophomore standing; for business majors only cannot be used as a business elective for non-business majors Provides the hardware-software technological background to enable students to understand the tradeoffs in computer systems architecture for effective use in the business environment. Topics include hardware components (e.g., CPU architecture, memory, registers, addressing modes, busses, instruction sets, peripheral devices) and software components (e.g., software environment, system software evolution, and the types and functionalities of operating systems and system-user interfaces. MIS majors only, cannot be used to fulfill a Business Elective for non-MIS majors.
