Description:
In place of the final advanced design studio, students may choose to develop a specialized thesis in some topic related to architecture. The thesis will normally take three semesters, starting with the three-credit hour ARCH 6490, Thesis Research Tools in the spring semester, this course in the fall semester and finishing with a six-credit thesis class in the third semester. A thesis may culminate in a design or in a written report. A thesis is expected to advance the field in some way by offering new insights into aspects of design, technology, history or professional principles. Prereq: ARCH 6490 and completion of at least one advanced design studio (ARCH 6170 or ARCH 6171).
