Instruction and practice in writing creative nonfiction essays. Both traditional and contemporary approaches to the essay. The course will provide opportunities to read and write narration, description, expository, argumentative, autobiographical essays, and the memoir. Writers will concentrate on developing their own style of writing and voice and will conclude the course with an essay of substantial length. Prerequisite: ENGL 251 or consent of instructor. (alternate years)
