The purpose of this didactic course is to prepare Advanced Gerontological Nurse Practitioner/Diabetes Clinical Manager Nursing students to assess, diagnose, and manage selected health care needs of older adults, especially those with diabetes. The focus is on advanced practice nursing with older adults and families in primary and acute care settings. Emphasis is on wellness and the pathophysiology/epidemiology underlying acute and chronic health problems, and on clinical management for older adults who have diabetes.
