This is a writing intensive course for the mathematics education major. This course studies the evolution of mathematical concepts, symbolism, processes and structures together with the role of mathematics in human intellectual and cultural development. It stresses the unique features of mathematics as a discipline and its interrelationship to other major areas of study, all from a historical perspective.
