This course is designed to broaden and enhance the study-abroad experience and to serve as a capstone to the students' foreign-language major. Building on the study-abroad experience, students will (1) contextualize their experience through readings, (2) continue their experience by mainatining consistent contact with the target culture., and (3) communicate their experience and their enhanced understanding of topics such as culture-shock, culture stereotypes, cultural metaphors, and cross cultural comparisons of behavior and mind-set. The class includes lectures, discussions of readings, and an important research paper whose partial objective is to underscore the students' internet, research, and multimedia skills.
