Teaches economic reasoning in the analysis of the determinants of criminal activity, provides an in-depth analysis of the importance of socioeconomic factors in determining crime. Investigates the relative importance of labor market conditions, deterrence, and other factors in the level of criminal activity. Also covers topics to reduce crime such as, the death penalty, issues around victimless crime and public choices. Prereq: ECON 2022.
