The purpose of this course is to examine concepts and methods of assessing populations and communities for the purpose of developing and planning public health programs that promote health and support access to health care. Models for financing and promoting cost effective care will be examined. The focus is on the role of the public health nursing administrator as a leader within the interdisciplinary health care system. The emphasis in on the integration of theories and concepts from the public health science and nursing to formulate policy and design programs that will promote and preserve the health of vulnerable populations in a culturally diverse society.
