An introduction to the techniques used in the design of engineering systems, including problem identification, brainstorming alternative solutions, establishing criteria and constraints, implementing and evaluating solutions, and communicating the results. Professional engineering codes will be used as the starting point to discuss ethics in engineering design. Teamwork and team roles will be emphasized along with computer skills for computation, writing, graphics, and presentation. One and one half hour design. Prerequisite: EH 101.
