Techniques and theory in environmental microbiology. Students perform experiments concerning a) enrichment, enumeration, and identification and b) metabolic and physiochemical adaptations, along with an independent project. Graduate students submit an additional report and take a modified final exam. Prerequisites: upper-division standing. Attendance at the first lecture/lab is required. Nonattendance will result in the student’s being dropped from the course roster.
