This course is required for prospective teachers seeking the Provisional Middle Childhood and/or the high school social studies teacher License. Attention is given to citizenship education, the world as a global community, the important role of values in guiding human behavior, and individual differences among learners. Additionally, the course examines the nature, development, purpose and value of social studies with emphasis on methods and techniques of instruction, curriculum reorganization, and evaluation.
