Religion approached as search for meaning. Personal and social interpretation of life and death. The study proceeds by examination of autobiography, institutions, symbols, scriptures, literature, world-views, and values. Modern critiques of religion, secular faiths, and religious pluralism are included. Open only to students in the University Honors Program or by permission of instructor. Not open to students who have taken REL 104 or REL 304. Additional readings and a paper are required for the 300 level course. The content overlaps sufficiently that students who have taken one of the courses (REL 104/REL 304) may not take the other. LEC
