Description:
A comprehensive reading instruction course which is research based, takes a balanced literacy approach, and includes the study of: phonics; comprehension; spelling patterns; and methods for delivering a strong literature based program with emphasis on content area reading, comprehension and ongoing assessment and diagnostic techniques. Developmental methods that are effective with students who are delayed, culturally diverse or who have learning differences and/or difficulties are also taught. This course focuses on the intermediate grade learner.
