Biomaterials is a multidisciplinary field requiring knowledge of biology, chemistry, materials science, mechanics, transport and medicine. In this course we will examine aspects of chemistry, biology, material science and mechanics as they apply to the interaction of a material with a biological system. Our examination of the field will lead to a general understanding of biocompatibility and how to design experiments that assess biocompatibility. Prerequisites: BME340, BIOL260, PHYS341, MTA403
