Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in MATH 105 (concurrent enrollment allowed), READ 100 and CHEM 100 or satisfactory test scores. First course in a two-semester sequence in general college chemistry. Includes the study of quantitative measurements, atomic structure, ions and nomenclature, chemical equations, equation and solution stoichiometry, thermochemistry, the gaseous state, quantum mechanics, periodic trends, and chemical bonding. Laboratory experiments illustrate key concepts and employ quantitative measurements and calculations. [Semesters Offered: Fall, Winter]
