Prerequisite: ENG 1113. This course incorporates the basic skills of research and interpretation, continuation of the study of composition skills, and an introduction to literature with emphasis on literary types. Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to write an acceptable research paper, to read selected literary works with greater understanding and enjoyment, to write compositions based on various analyses of these readings using acceptable edited American English, and to score at least 70 percent on an objective test based on materials presented during this course. The class meets for three hours per week and also requires supplemental library use. Credit, three semester hours
