This composition class should foster improved thinking and writing skills, resulting in relatively error-free discourse on a consistent basis. Through the completion of in-class exercises and presentations utilizing word processors and the internet, students will learn a variety of methods for generating and conveying ideas, with emphasis on syntax, clarity, and support. Each essay will contain a thesis sentence, an introduction, support for assertions, and a conclusion. Additionally, through the study of model essays, students will learn to discuss the structure of compositions intelligently. They will also learn to recognize errors in reasoning. If deemed necessary by the instructor, a grammar review will be incorporated into the course. Three hours of lecture/practice per week. Credit, three semester hours
