An introductory course that stresses the connection between reading, writing, and study skills. Reading skills, vocabulary building, and ease with the writing process are emphasized. During the class the student moves from personal writing to academic writing. The style goal is clarity; the mechanics goal is the understanding of basic sentence patterns. This course does not satisfy the writing requirement, but may be used for elective credit.
