Foundations of Education is a comprehensive overview of the history of education and curriculum development and design. It is a course investigating historical, economic, legal, and philosophical foundations to provide preservice teachers with a clear understanding of the events and leaders who preceded the issues and controversies confronting American education today. Course content will include an examination of curriculum foundations and the theory of a variety of curricular models. NCC's service learning is embedded in this course, and students complete 15 hours of service in area schools as part of the course grade.
