A course designed to introduce and explore the fundamental principles and practices of magazine publishing. During the semester, students will create a plan to publish a new magazine, learning about concept development, editing, design, circulation, marketing, advertising, and finances. Students will also discuss the history and cultural role of magazines in the United States and consider the impact of online publishing. Prerequisite: Communications 101 or 205 strongly advised but not required. Offered spring term even years.
