A study of approaches and procedures designed to assist students in grades 5-12 in becoming adept readers. The primary focus will be on reading and language arts in the curriculum content areas. Building literacy development in students with both typical and atypical language skills is included. Techniques to modify and expand instruction based upon student development will be examined and discussed. Enrollment limited to students admitted to the professional level of the teacher education program. Field experience included. Corequisite with EDUC 246 Middle Grades Language Arts for middle grades students. Offered fall term.
