The properties and reactions (descriptive chemistry) of inorganic elements and their compounds and the principles, trends, and patterns of inorganic chemistry are studied. These trends are useful for predicting and explaining how and why reactions occur involving inorganic species in areas such as biochemistry, and geochemistry.
