This course is designed to give the student a broad understanding of the topic of juvenile deliquency in the contemporary society. Delinquency is a complex phenonmenon that is approached from a sociological perspective that includes psychological, economic and biological determinants. This course addresses issues of delinquency such as race, class and gender. This course integrqtes discussion of the theory and history of juvenile delinquency with the system's response to it. It includes the administration of justice in the Juvenile justice system, from local responses to state and federal involvement. It addresses current situations and explores the future of juvenile justice. 3-0-3
