Diversity and Division: Early America, 1670-1763. This course focuses on the growing prosperity of the colonial American colonies, the increasing diversity of their populations, and the tensions and cries that resulted from both of these developments. Topics will include the rise of slavery, the birth of a consumer society, and the contest among European nations and their Indian allies over the future of North America.
