This course concentrates on acute medical-surgical illnesses with an emphasis on surgical problems as patients are followed through the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. The student will apply the nursing process to patients, to include care of the older adult. The student will explore principles of teaching and learning and use therapeutic communication techniques to promote self-care. Prerequisite: Completion of MATH-1000 or higher level, MOLB 2210, PSYC 1000, and NRST 2120. (2.5 lect., clinical 12 hours per week)
