Description:
Prerequisites: Completion of all 200 level Nursing courses, BIOL 345 (grade of “C” or better), and NURS 260 or other approved growth and development course (grade of “C” or better). Using a theoretical orientation, the course focuses on the dynamics of health behavior to care for culturally diverse clients receiving psychiatric/mental health care in hospital and community settings. Care is focused on common mental health problems with emphasis on therapeutic interventions and modalities designed to promote, maintain and restore health. The concepts of group dynamics and milieu management are addressed. The nurse’s role as a collaborative member of the health care team is emphasized. This course cannot be challenged.
