An internship is an off-campus, parttime placement in a professional setting for students to gain practical experience in the student?s career path or interests in the field of Communication. Students are expected to learn operational and managerial skills that are required forentry-level positions. Before the end of the previous semester in which the student was enrolled, the student must submit a proposal to the intended supervisor and send a copy to the department chair (who later assigns the course grade). Upon completion of the activity, the student writes an exit paper and submits an evaluation form. The department chair assigns the course grade. Prerequisite: COM 4894, and junior status and permission of the department chair. Course may be repeated; total internship hours may not exceed three credit hours toward graduation. Required of all majors and for graduation.
