Elementary keyboard technique, five-finger patterns, basic chord patterns, major and minor scales, beginning Hanon and Bartok; fundamentals of notation and harmonization; transposition; sight-reading, by-ear tunes, triads, and inversions; full chords and inversions; accompaniment patterns; repertory from each of the following: baroque, classical, romantic, contemporary. Three classes per week. Prerequisite: MUS 1151.
