EST 487 - Student Teaching for Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialists

Prerequisites: Prior online application to the Office of Field Services , successful completion of Portfolio Checkpoint #3, course prerequisites listed in checklist including: EST 377 with a grade of B or higher; all professional coursework; 2.50 cumulative GPA; and 2.75 professional GPA. This is a university-supervised student-teaching experience in a state-approved special education program serving students with mild/moderate disabilities, five days a week for one semester observing and teaching under the guidance of a mentor teacher; it includes a seminar. If EST 377 was completed in an elementary setting, then EST 487 must be completed in a secondary setting. If EST 377 was completed in a secondary setting, then EST 487 must be completed in an elementary setting. Successful completion requires demonstration of competencies necessary for licensure as a Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist.
