An in-depth study of the chemical principles governing the adsorption of molecules onto chemically active surfaces of catalysts and determining how this adsorptive interaction causes chemical reactions to be promoted. The course emphasizes the study of catalysts in industrially significant reactions, such as in petroleum refining.
