The focus of this course is on the basic elements of the research process and the application of evidence to clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on each step of the research process, the characteristics of ethical scientific research and critical examination of research. Attention is given to the process of retrieval, appraisal, and synthesis of evidence in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes as well as the subsequent integration of evidence, clinical judgment, interprofessional perspectives, and patient preferences in planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes of care. The course offers 1.5 hours credit hours in didactic and 1.5 hours on-line content.
