An introduction to the basic principles of an acting technique that teaches the actor to make a habit of listening and responding, thereby creating a connection onstage that is compelling and truthful. Building step by step, the class culminates in assigned scene work from the classic musical theatre repertoire in which the student begins to put the principles to work in order to make his or her work onstage more effective. Attendance at class is mandatory, and considerable time outside of class devoted to practice and rehearsal is expected. Public performance required as a final project. Offered on a rotational basis. Limited enrollment. Prerequisite: Department Consent.
