A survey of the principal musical developments in concert, folk, and popular traditions. Representative composers and compositions are examined. Musical trends in Latin American countries during the various stylistic periods are studied within a cultural, political, and social context. Indian, African, and European influences are explored. Offered on a rotational basis. Open to all undergraduates of the University.
