Explores cultural convergences and divergences and introduces students to the variety and richness of modern/contemporary literature being written in Spanish and Portuguese. Authors read may include Clarice Lispector, Isabel Allende, Garcia Marquez, Jorge Luis Borges, Cortazar, Elena Poniatowska, C. Martin Gaite, Merce Rodoreda, E. Mendoza, and Jose Saramago.
