This seminar for examining research findings and new thinking about social life on-line in the social sciences and communications/media studies, particularly social networking sites and other Web 2.0 developments (open-source, user-generated content). Students can develop case studies and comparisons of forms in which they participate or consider participating. The goal of this seminar is to develop the next generation of analysts to follow the visionaries and critics with skills in grounded and theoretically sophisticated analysis.
