LAB HOURS: 2, CREDIT: 1 Prerequisite: EPO 220 This course provides an introduction to the operation of slow-speed diesel propulsion systems. The course consists of lecture and practical training in engineering systems and proper operating procedures. The student will learn to operate a heavy-fuel diesel-propulsion plant under normal operating conditions. Students will learn to work effectively as a team to diagnose combustion and machinery faults under emergency conditions representative of those encountered on an operating vessel. This course will emphasize Engine Team Management techniques utilizing the simulator as an instructional tool to train the students in good communications and problem solving even during stressful conditions.
