CLASS HOURS: 3, CREDIT: 3 Prerequisite: ME 332 Two parts are covered in this course. Part one represents the general overview of fundamentals on applied loads, material properties, stress and stains, stress concentrations, static as well as dynamic failure theories, and some tribiologicalconsiderations. Part two will relate these fundamentals to various machine elements, such as columns, thin and thick-walled cylinders, shafting and associated parts, bearings, gears fasteners and power screws, springs, brakes and clutches, and flexible machine elements. A design project from the text will be assigned to each group.
