CLASS HOURS: 3, CREDIT: 3 Prerequisite: MGT 350 This course is designed to introduce students of international business to the management of human resources in a global economy. The course highlights the strategic role of human resource management in supporting international business. It covers the multinational enterprise, overseas subsidiaries, international joint ventures, and global labor relations. Cases and examples are drawn from around the world, with an emphasis on the maritime industry. Specific topics include expatriates, subsidiary staff, multicultural teams and crews, work conditions and gender issues on merchant vessels and cruise ships.
