Theoretical basis for the nursing care of individuals who require nursing intervention to achieve and maintain mental health through adaptive processes. Includes a supervised practicum which incorporates therapeutic modalities. A variety of psychodynamic theories related to anxiety, interpersonal relationships, crisis intervention and group process are discussed. Lecture three hours; laboratory six hours per week. Prerequisite: NURS 11, NURS 12, NURS 15, NURS 16, NURS 117; or instructor permission. Graded: Graded Student. Units: 5.0
