Principles and practice in vehicle dynamics and design using computer aided techniques. Design methods for passenger vehicles, SUVs, trucks, motorcycles and space vehicles. Study of tires, drivetrain and gear boxes in ground vehicles. Kinematics and kinetics of mechanisms in two and three dimensions with applications to suspensions, steering mechanisms. Frame design using finite element analysis, power trains, braking, auxiliary systems. Computer dynamic models for analysis of vehicle stability, collisions rollovers, and failure analysis using state-of-the-art software. Prerequisite: ENGR 110 and ME 117. Graded: Graded Student.
