Introduction to the profession of counseling, including differences between professional counseling and other professions, counseling theories, consultation skills and an introduction to basic counseling skills. Includes a group process experience. Lecture two hours; laboratory three hours. Note: Open to unclassified students on a space available basis. Required prerequisite for the Master of Science in Counseling and requirement for the Counseling minor, not included in 200-series 60 unit program for master's degree. Instructor approval required.
