Prerequisite(s): Junior-level standing Note: May be used as an elective for INT majors and minors. May be used as a social sciences, humanities or unrestricted elective for other students. Surveys the phenomenon of global commerce within a broad interdisciplinary context. Considers the meaning and changing nature of global commerce and examines contemporary trade patterns from a geographic perspective. Reviews the history of global commerce and its impacts, and provides an overview of the development of economic ideas concerning trade and commerce. Examines specific areas of interest such as commerce and culture, the role of government and international organizations, the legal framework of global commerce, selected contemporary issues, and possible future scenarios for trade and commerce.
