Description:
Prerequisite: ARTS 316 The course studies photography at the advanced level. Emphasis is placed on technical, aesthetic and conceptual development for the creation of a professional portfolio. Students develop a self-directed thematic body of photography. Students learn large format camera skills including shooting, film scanning and printing. Topics covered also include digital and/or darkroom image manipulation, studio and location lighting, writing within the discipline and professional presentation of artwork. A manual film camera and/or professional digital camera and gray card are required. A tripod and handheld light meter are recommended. This course may be repeated three times for credit. Six hours per week. Either semester. Additional fee required. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
