PHYS 458 - Advanced Electricity and Magnetism

Institution:
Bridgewater State University
Subject:
Physics
Description:
Prerequisite: PHYS 438 This course is a continuation of PHYS 438. Maxwell’s equations and their connection to special relativity are explored. The propagation of electromagnetic radiation predicted by Maxwell, the transfer of energy determined by Poynting’s theorem, and the relativistic generalization of the Larmor formula for the radiation by accelerated charges will be studied. Offered alternate spring semesters.
