Topics will include the Iberian and Amerindian background, the social and economic structures of the colonial period, slavery and race relations, the Wars of Independence, the continuing legacy of the colonial period, the integration of Latin America into the world economy, 20th- century revolutions, and the history of U.S. relations with Latin America.
