MS 401 - Military Law and Justice

Prerequisite(s): MS 302 Corequisite(s): MS 100 Introduction to the theory of punishment and the dynamics of the Uniform Code of Military Justice as they apply to the commissioned officer and his or her role as a leader. Students will acquire a basic knowledge of apprehension, conduct of investigations, lawful search and seizure, and administration of non-judicial punishment. The Law of Land Warfare as codified in the Geneva and Hague conventions and the officer/leader role in its application will also be discussed. Instruction is presented through a series of lectures, presentations and student participation exercises. Students will also be required to prepare a written after-action report on their advanced camp experience. One class period weekly.
