Prerequisite: A familiarity with either Windows or the Macintosh system This course will provide an introduction to some of the basic tools needed to navigate the Internet and to retrieve information from Internet sites. Tools covered include e-mail, telnet, ftp, gopher, listserve and the World Wide Web. The course will also include a look at the history of the Internet. In addition, students will learn HTML, the language of the World Wide Web, in order to create effective Web pages. Aspects of page design and navigational design will be included.
