Prerequisite: PHYS 401 Students learn Einstein’s general theory of relativity, and the role differential geometry and general covariance play in physics in this course. The class includes significant discussions of modern cosmology, experimental evidence for relativity, and the results of current and ongoing astrophysical measurements. Offered alternate years. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
