A survey for non-majors of the biochemistry and physiology of drug action. Drugs such as aspirin, Tylenol(r), caffeine, valium, penicillin, morphine, antihistamines, anti-cancer agents, as well as many others will be discussed. There will also be an in-depth look at drugs of abuse, including alcohol, marijuana and cocaine, among others. Emphasis will be placed on how these drugs work and how they affect the human body. Confers degree, not major or minor credit. (Fulfills drug education component requirement). Fall, Spring '00, SSI
