This course provides an opportunity to study legal ideas, legal institutions and legal process in the United States to gain understanding and awareness of the social and political dynamics that generate laws, as well as the social role that lawyers and the legal profession play as interpreters and enforcers of legal rules. Special attention will be given to current problems and controversies in American law.
